Axel Hedfors is Axwell, the man we know as the talented Swedish DJ, producer, and record label owner. As one-third of Swedish House Mafia, he’s been showing us exceptional House music and performing around the world gracing many famous stages with the other members, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello. While he has done wonders with Swedish House Mafia, independently as Axwell, he’s a stand out who has excelled at creating a signature style of deep Electro House music.
Axwell’s rise and continuous breakthrough in the EDM world was definitely headed by one of his global hits Feel the Vibe under Ministry of Sound, which absolutely rocked the UK charts back in 2005. The track is definitely something more Progressive than most House tracks nowadays. With the addition of vocals from Tara McDonald, the song is given a funky Dance vibe. You can tell from the vocals and production style that it definitely shared many similar qualities to classic songs like Sandstorm by Darude, that I would characterize as a more old-school Techno from back in the day. Since then, he’s been all over the top of the UK charts with many of his own songs, remixes, and collaborations.
Axwell has a crazy amount of successes to his name, including awesome collaborations, remixes, and original tracks under labels such as his own, Axtone. He’s worked with Sebastian Ingrosso on Ernesto vs. Bastian’s Dark Side of the Moon and a track called Together. Axwell has also worked with Steve Angello under the Supermode alias remixing and producing songs, as well as Eric Prydz to produce tracks under the alias, Axer. He has produced impressive remixes for many songs, including more popular and mainstream songs like Usher’s Burn, Nelly Furtado’s Promiscuous, and Madonna’s Jump. In his extensive list of work, one stand out club smasher was his track, Wait a Minute featuring vocals from Nevada that gained the support from other DJs like Pete Tong and David Guetta. One of his most recent accomplishments was a remix of Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap done with Dirty South that received a Grammy nomination for Best Remixed Recording (Non-Classical).
Axwell is most definitely a seasoned artist who has blown our minds and our speakers in the past and still successfully continues to do so. His tracks have an awesome up-beat Dance feel that really get me going. He has solid House influences combined with unique sets of lyrics and a very ethereal finesse.
