While it may appear that way, “KAKKMADDAFAKKA” isn’t fancy spelling for Cock Mother Fucker. Gotta give these Norwegians a chance. Their music is a catchy, danceable, and witty take on indie pop. Oh, and cute. They are virtually unknown here in the U.S; the closest they got was a nomination for Best Norwegian artist by MTV Europe in 2008.
With the look of this video, I’m surprised they aren’t the most famous Norwegian group in the world. What a ridiculous concept, four minutes of slow motion “MO”ing. Hot girls too, damn Norwegians.
Their second LP “Hest” was produced by polymath and king of BergenĀ Erlend Oye and released early this year. The whole thing plays like a soundtrack for a kid’s movie or a high school play, partially because of the high strung guitar and simple piano chords, but mostly because of how Norwegian men sing in English. That sounds like a criticism, but I think you’ll find that vibe very pleasant and light, which is exactly the appeal of this kind of music.
I imagine they are working on something, so keep a look out for new singles from the band in the next few months. In zee meantime, enjoy these.
