Mason is Dutch producers Lason Chronis and Coen Berrier. While they perform their live shows together, Chronis is the DJ face of the electronic duo.
Chronis is an Amsterdam native, child to a Dutch actress and a Greek sculptor. He was surrounded by the arts all his life, by his parents’ influence and his own musical interests. He picked up the violin at the young age of 6 and sang in the choir. It wasn’t until his teen years that he found a desire for DJing while practicing on his grandmother’s turntables. He is known to use his talented violin skills during DJ sets, like during his tour with Tiesto back in 2004.
Coen Berrier, like Chronis, has a history of other musical talents. He was also a singer, but chose guitar strings to hone his fingers with. He played in numerous bands throughout his teenage years and was responsible for the track Husan by the Bhangra Knights, which reached top ten in the UK Pop charts in 2005.
When the two artists met, they formed a temporary Pop group called Systex. After, their brief stunt as Pop artists the two found themselves immersed in the electronic scene. They have performed at Sensation White, Dance Valley, Nature One, Creamfields, Global Gathering and many other clubs worldwide and topped UK Dance Charts with their 2007 release Exceder. They’ve also been featured on the incredibly popular annual compilations of the Ministry of Sound.
Their music is good and honest. It’s been tearing up dance floors and busting earphones worldwide. It also showcases a deep understanding of how to fuse melodic sequences with the more technological sounds to produce a solid dance track. This duo is doing it right.
