If you haven’t heard already, Dog Blood is brain-child of two big minds in EDM – Boys Noize and Skrillex. The result is labeled as Techno on Beatport, but I’d prefer to refer to this stuff as Tech-Acid.
After listening to “Next Order,” I’m convinced the Dog Blood project figured out how to get crowds to go wild with the fantastic mix of acid and techno. However, I’m less impressed with “Middle Finger,” which sounds like a random clusterfuck of noises from both Skrillex’s and Boys Noize’s sound banks. The outcome is a bleepy/glitchy track that doesn’t seem to hold itself together very well. The EP is a tangent from both collaborators’ usual music, so it’s not surprising that one track is subpar. Bottom line: get “Next Order” on Beatport, but keep your eyes peeled for more material from Dog Blood.
