This is a two-for-one Mojo. Bon Iver heard and was touched in someway by the song “Love More” by Sharon Van Etten. Touched so much, that he decided to cover it himself.
You can hear for yourself, but their instrumentation is surprisingly similar for a cover song. They use the same droning organ that caries the song throughout. I’m not sure which I like better, Bon Iver’s, not surprisingly, uses the instrumentation to bring about much more nostalgia, but Etten’s is truer to the lyrics.
Etten recorded this song in a high quality recording studio with the funding and help from Shaking Through, a Philadelphia-based company that focuses on getting small artist’s music heard. They also do an in-depth video on the writing and recording process. Check out Etten’s video here.
