I was completely unprepared. I was helpless – I could do nothing but groove in wonder. I was just innocently walking from Nero to Jack Beats at HARD LA. As I made my way across the fair grounds, Ratatat began their set. I was blown away. Any thoughts I had of venturing to another stage were deemed ludicrous upon inception and immediately erased from my mind.

Here are a few things I remember from that set:

• The crowd’s collective bliss was unlike anything I had ever experienced.
• Shempi = the greatest song ever created. EVER.
• I might have invented upwards of 15 new dance moves. At least five were conceived during Shempi.
• Nothing else.

Update: I was venturing from Emalkay to Jack Beats. Not Nero to Jack Beats. Nero later played on the same stage as Emalkay. Hard was kind of a blur
