Although I wasn’t the biggest fan of Justice’s most recent album, Audio, Video, Disco, (yes I am a Cross worshipper), a few of the songs stood out, namely “Civilization” and “On’n'On”. Tonight, I’m presenting a remix of a track I overlooked while skipping through the album so I could listen to Cross. SebastiAn’s remix of “New Lands” is simple, yet genius in a way. The main riff is suspenseful and creates a dark environment for the vocals, making the track chilling and sinister. With the creepy sensation of the set, I love that SebastiAn milks the anticipation with his heavy use of cut time. It makes the drop at 3:26 extremely energetic and refreshing.
SebastiAn’s been one of the best in the production game for quite some time now and his originals are killer, but this remix of “New Lands” proves to me that SebastiAn’s got remixing figured out as well. I can now say that a SebastiAn remix won’t ever be skipped again under my watch.
