Dubstep has gotten a bad rap these days. Whenever someone mentions the rapidly growing genre, everyone immediately thinks of the heaviest, hardest wub wubs and nothing else. Some then cast it away as only bro-step and never hear its deeper and more complex side.
NumberNin6 is one of those up and coming producers (and a medical student!) that pushes the boundaries of what we consider to be dubstep. Instead of focusing solely on how heavy his wobbles are, his productions are more drum oriented, which makes (in my humble opinion) for a much more engaging sound than the typical cookie cutter dub formula. While he has his fair share of heavy wub productions (see Not this Time), even those display a close attention to detail in terms of structure and drum patterns. They remind me more of drum and bass than dubstep in some, which perhaps adds to the complexity and depth of his tracks.
This guy is coming up fast, enjoy!
