The music was… Ok.
It took awhile for me to get into it. The first few sets were slow. They would throw down some promising stuff but then drift away into a melodic set drowned with random hitting bass. My friend commented and said “they all sound the same”. Indeed they did. Each set to me was indifferent to each other, they all had similar styles.. Except for the girl. (SORRY! I don’t know her name) But she came out with fire. I just felt like I was getting lulled by hard bass. It didn’t make me wanna jump up and down but rather just bob my head and occasionally put my hand up.
The sound system and club was…. Awesome.
The Mezzanine is an awesome venue. If you’re a DJ or a promotional company looking to throw a party somewhere in SF, The Mezzanine should be in your top choices. They have two bars at opposite ends of the massive dance floor. They have a stage that’s big enough to create a sense of presence for whoever is playing there. They have a huge array of lights and I’m sure if you request something they can make it happen. The drinks are sort of expensive.. BUT hey so is everything else in SF. Now the sound system rivals Ruby Skye’s. They have two massive speaker walls hanging from the ceiling near the stage that just rain bass. They also multiple speaker walls spread out around the dance floor. I want to say there was at least six different ones. Yeah.. They know how to make it loud.
I know I talked about the music earlier. But I want to bring you back to the main attraction. Drop The Lime.
They rocked it. Literally. The best way to describe them would be a 60′s swing dance band that was pumped up with Electronic Bass. From the minute they walked in they had a stage presence. I felt I was at a play watching a tale unfold. A guitar synth just pours out of the speakers and blinding light just shines into my eyes. Next thing I know I’m jumping up an down to a guy singing his heart out and two girls backing him up on the vocals. Not only that they had a practiced dance routine. Well.. whatever they practiced was well-executed. They had everything down pat from guitar solos to drum solos to the girls hitting some late 60′s dance moves. It was awesome. They created electronic music but with a rock twist. I loved it. If you guys ever get a chance to see these guys… PLEASE DO.
Also do me a favor and support these guys. Check out and purchase their music here.
