A staple of the HARD Summer annual lineup, king of modern techno, and general musical genius Boys Noize has just shown us a new track to keep us occupied ’till his headlining set Friday. This is especially exciting for two reasons. First, Boys Noize has been teasing us by playing “XTC” live for awhile now, and none of us had any idea what it was. Second, it’s the second preview we get of his new album Out of the Black, set to release on his label BNR on August 6th, and it’s just great. If we’ve learned anything from Power and the two tracks we’ve heard so far, this album is going to be mind boggling.

“XTC” is pure Boys Noize style techno. It’s one of those tracks you can immediately identify as Boys Noize regardless of whether or not you’ve heard it before. This is pleasing news to me, as 2012 has been a year of new projects for the techno wizard, between Handbraekes (Boys Noize + Mr. Oizo) and Elax we haven’t gotten a whole lot of that signature BNR sound.
