Seventeen year old Jack Heffron, aka Zeadron Del Gomez, has been my go-to field lying soundtrack since January. In that month, he released a full studio album entitled ‘Hold My Hand? No’, and for free no less. When listening all the way through, I like to think of it as a soundscape that slowly builds my surroundings, as if by playing certain songs, a different part of my environment is constructed. The tracks are the epitome of ‘more is less’ – simplicity is key in the effectiveness of the sound.
Layered synths and minimalist drums create a fascinating electronic sound that I haven’t heard matched all year, and I’m disappointed we didn’t hear any more big releases from him since January. Then again, each track is so thoughtfully crafted and polished, one wouldn’t want to rush the guy. ‘Hold My Hand? No’ took five months of hard work, and I’d love to see the same level of depth from such a young producer again in the near future.
Heres a few tracks to sample, and you can download the full album in any audio format you like here.
